1483959 Gas-washing apparatus WIEG- AND KARLSRUHE GmbH 16 July 1975 [18 July 1974] 29747/75 Heading B1R A gas-washing apparatus comprises circular and concentric walls 20 and 32 defining an annular nozzle chamber 22 and an annular mixing chamber 24, a wall 40 defining with 20 an annular liquid collection chamber 36, a row of spray nozzles 30 extending the length of a gas feed opening 56 for feeding washing liquid into the nozzle chamber 22. The scrubbed gas passes into drop separation chamber 38 to droplet extractor 42. The apparatus is located in a tower 12, dirty gas entering via intake chamber 18 provided with flap-closable window 28. Scrubbing liquid 44 is recirculated to 30 by pump 46. In alternative embodiments, the nozzle chamber may be rectangular in plan or the washing apparatus may be located at the base of a chimney. |
