<PICT:1071837/C6-C7/1> Scale is removed from an ingot 13 on a supporting plate 12 by pressure fluid e.g. water from sets of nozzles 8, 9 which are carried by pistons 4', 5', 6', 7' operated by the pressure fluid to move the nozzles into their spraying positions. A piston 15 is moved to clamp the ingot against the plate 12. The rate of movement of the nozzles is controlled by throttle valves, and when the nozzles 9 reach their lower position they operate a member 20 controlling a valve 21 to return the nozzles to the starting position. |
