The method is for the correction of chromatic pulse dispersion in optical fibres, especially when using beams of large spectral band-width such as those derived from light emitting diodes. The received beam (11) is split into a spectrum comprising sectors of different wave-lengths, and a detector signal is derived from the light contained in each sector. The sector signals are combined to generate the overall output signal. The beam (11) may be split into a divergent fan of beams (17, 19) which impinge on a flat surface (16) with a series of optical filters to select the different spectrum sectors.
|
