<p>1456516 Electric combs and brushes BRAUN AG 15 Nov 1973 [15 Nov 1972] 53024/73 Headings A4K and A4V [Also in Division AS-6] An appliance for combing or brushing hair comprises two tools 82, 82a attached to a holder 21 and oscillated to and fro by a driving unit 25, the tools being held and/or guided by two cranked levers 28, 29 on shafts 26, 27, extending at right angles to the direction of oscillation, the arms 38, 58 being connected to a reciprocable push-rod 60, the opposite end of which is engaged by a crank pin 31 mounted on a shaft 33 of the driving unit. The tools may move at more than 100 alternations per second. A tool in the form of a comb may have one or more guide arms (49, 50), Fig. 3 (not shown), extending in its plane engaging in slots (e.g. 46) in guide cases (44, 45). Oscillating members 28a, 29a for retention and guidance may be mounted on shafts 86, 87 parallel to the shafts 26, 27. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), flexible holding and guiding members (73, 74) may be formed from plastics material, the flexing parts (77, 78) being about twice as wide as the forked parts supporting the tools at attachment points (75, 76).
