摘要 <p>1320624 Magnetic storage devices COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 14 May 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 15133/71 Addition to 1294319 Heading H3B To form a storage matrix in which parallel wires each coated with magnetic storage material are overlaid by an orthogonal folded set of parallel insulated drive wires 3, Fig. 5, the magnetic wires are positioned between parallel spacer threads or wires 6 which are bonded to the drive wires, the magnetic wires being either inserted into the channels defined by the spacer threads prior to folding the drive wires, or threaded through tunnels formed by the spacer threads and the overlying drive wires after folding and bonding is completed. The set of parallel drive wires may be formed as a printed circuit, or be formed by winding an enamelled drive wire 3, Fig. 1, over a support 2 affixed to a rotated cylinder 1, the wire enamel being coated with an adherent which is softened by passing the wire through a solvent dip 5 after cleaning in a filter 4 so that the wire adheres to the support. Alternatively, bonding may be effected by heating either in an oven or by passing current through the drive wires. The spacer threads 6 are adhesive coated and wound over the support 2 and drive wires in a similar manner, Fig. 3, the support being repositioned to give the orthogonal wiring arrangement. Spacer distribution is restricted to one half of the support, and after detachment from the cylinder 1 the drive wires are folded as shown in Fig. 5 and pressed together by plates 7, 8. Bonding is effected by combined heat and pressure, after which the spacer threads are withdrawn to provide tunnels for the magnetic wires. An alternative construction is to use a press 9, 10, Fig. 6, to loop the spacer threads, magnetic wires being dropped into the guides so formed prior to folding the drive wires. Multiple turn drive wires may be produced by winding a drive wire on to a multiplicity of supports A to D on a winding cylinder, Fig. 10 (not shown), and bonding spacer threads to support B alone, Fig. 12. The supported drive wires 3 are then folded about support B in the order A-C-D, Figs. 13a-13c (not shown), the supports A and B being removed during folding so that ultimately multitum drive wires about the spacer threads lay between supports C and D.</p>
