The maximum velocity alarm is used to provide a warning when a road vehicle or boat reaches its required maximum velocity, to prevent this velocity being exceeded. It comprises a cylindrical tube with an adjustable mechanical vibrator positioned within it. The motion of the vehicle creates a pressure within the tube, this pressure being a linear function of the vehicle velocity, so that the mechanical vibrator vibrates to provide the alarm at a given velocity, determined by the adjustment of the vibrator. The vibration may alternatively be transmitted to a visual electronic system to provide the alarm. The alarm can also be used for a rotating machine or motor shaft.
|
