Self regulating condensate trap for steam pipes - has float cylinder in collecting chamber with drain to runoff pipe

The self-regulating float-chamber is for extraction of condensate from steam pipes without loss of steam. The chamber has a dividing wall (3) which cuts off the collecting chamber (4) from the underlying run-off pipe (5). A condensate pipe (7) projects down between the chambers, with a stop flange resting on the bore (6) in the collecting chamber (4) base. A float cylinder (11) surrounds the central pipe (7) with an inner tube (10) surrounding the pipe. The float slides freely along the condensate pipe. Steam flows in (16) and out (17) of the chamber top. Condensate is forced through the narrow channel inside the tube (10), and out into the runoff chamber (5).
