Construction of furniture units - using front and back frames held together by tensioned rods and formed with U-section members received in panel grooves

The units are built on a firm base frame (12, 13) provided with levelling arrangements (14) and each consists of vertical side panels (1) a top (8) and a floor. The edges of the vertical panels are grooved (2) to take the flanges of adjacent pairs of U section memebers (15) which are drawn tightly against the panels by pie rods (23) running through from front to back. These rods lie in grooves along the edges of the roof and floor panels and are completely is complete. Horizontal cover strips (17) fitting between the U section pairs are rebated to fit over the edges of the roof and floor frames and are held by screws (27) through the webs of the U sections, from inside.
