The resistance heating sheet, for a wall-mounted panel heater and other heating applications, is sandwiched between a thermally insulating backing that rests against the wall and an electrically insulating sheet. The sheet is made of cellulose or synthetic fibre and contains spaced parallel heating wires. Alternate wires are connected to one of two supply wires to which the heating current is applied. The heating wires may have various compositions and shapes, e.g. copper alloy, plastic impregnated or coated with conducting particles. They may have round or polygonal cross-sections. The sheet is made by introducing the heating wires between two fibrous sheets (7, 8) as they leave the machine that makes them. The sandwich is then compressed between rollers and cut to length.
|
