Vapour pressure generator for mechanical engine drive - is continuously fed with mixture of water and explosive powder

Combustion takes place in a vessel which has a cylindrical upper part and a conical base. There is a layer of water in the upper port of the vessel and a layer in the lower port consisting of a mixture of water and a finely powdered explosive. The explosive is ignited by flames fed from oxygen reservoirs below the vessel. It burns at a controlled rate because the particles are small and separated by water. Fresh supplies of explosive and water are continuously supplied by a mixing pump drawing from a reservoir. The vapour generated is discharged through a passage at the top of the vessel into a double acting engine which drives the pump and an electrical generator.
