1,042,129. Discharge lamps. COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION. June 9, 1964 [June 12, 1963], No. 23878/64. Heading H1D. A resonance lamp contains an atomic vapour produced at least in part by cathode sputtering, the vapour absorbing atomic resonance lines in a beam of radiation from an external source, and re-emitting the resonance radiation in all directions. In the lamp described, having a hollow cathode, the anode is arranged to prevent the cathode glow falling directly on the lamp window. The lamp may be operated using a D.C. supply, the external source being modulated, and the modulated signal detected. |
