<p>A servicing carriage for a battery of coke ovens having a hydraulically operated coke pusher ram, a scraper for levelling off the charge, and a door operating device, has all the moving details energised hydraulically. On the frame of the machine the common hydraulic power generating unit is installed together with accumulators for the balancing of the energy requirements at particular points. The unit consists of oil pumps driven by an internal combustion engine, esp. a disel, or a turbine using producer gas, and all the moving parts have either hydraulic motors or cylinders. Peak loading is covered by the accumulators, and these are sufficient in the event of a failure of the main drive to retract the ejector and the levelling bar. No other emergency equipment is necessary and the installation weighs 20% less than the usual.</p> |
