Water is fed to a unit in which the chlorides are removed or significantly reduced. 600 to 1000 mu g/l of silver ions are then added to the water, which quantity is much higher than the 50 mu g/l permissible according to the "Environmental Protection Agency Standard for Drinking Water". Part of the water is then treated with a mixed resin bed to partially deionise it, the natural minerals being thus retained in the other part. The use of an excess quantity of silver ions significantly reduces the holding time of the water to be purified. |
