A hinge assembly for an adjustable seat for a vehicle has a strap attached to the back of the seat and a larger plate attached to the fixed seat base. An eccentric disc retained in the strap has a central portion with a square hole through it for a square section rod forming part of the operating handle, and has a slot at the top of an extension on the plate, and a further curved slot at the bottom of the plate for pegs passing through which limit the amount of adjustment. In another design, the eccentric is combined with a toothed segment and toothed pinion. The eccentric is tubular with a high diameter to thickness ratio.
