The amplitude noise reducer, for chrominance signals in magnetic tape colour video recorders based on the LIR process, has the input to the limiter passing via a first filter (3) to this limiter and over a delay circuit (6) past this limiter. The outputs of the limiter (4) and the delay circuit are added (5). The filter characteristics are defined by a specified equation relating the FM carrier to replay amplitude to the ratio of the IF carrier frequency and the frequency of the converted colour carrier.
