The gun can be elevated and depressed, and is mounted on a guard plate. An ammunition belt is fed via a passage through the plate to the gun from a holder inside the turret. On the outside of the gun (4) is an armoured holder for a secnd ammunition belt (48), also delivering to the gun via a passage. Ammunition can thus be delivered to the gun either from this magazine or the one (42) inside the turret, as desired. The design allows two different sorts of ammunition to be used in the same gun, e.g. explosive and light weight shells in large quantities against aircraft, and heavier armour-piercing ones singly against other tanks etc.
