[Also in Division B3] Simultaneously with the balancing, in one or more planes, of a planetary body, e.g. a rotary engine piston, by adding e.g. (welding on) or removing (as shown, drilling away) weight G u corresponding to measured unbalance, there is superimposed further weight adjustment X corresponding to the difference between the body weight, as increased or decreased by the unbalance correction weight, and a predetermined ideal body weight G s . It may also be desirable to allow for the filling of the piston cavities by operational cooling fluid, as by filling the piston with cooling fluid or substitute material during the measuring process. In the particularly described method, a piston (1) is first put on a balance (2) to determine its weight G R which is fed to an impulse store (4). Pistons below a predetermined weight G I are rejected at this stage. The piston weight G R equal to or over G I is fed to a calculator (5). The piston is then dynamically balanced and its unbalance U is also fed to the calculator (5) being resolved into two components A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> which are fed to two of three borers (6)-(8). The further weight X for removal, i.e. the difference between (G R - G u ) and G s , is fed in equal parts, i.e. X/3, to each borer.
