1483157 Pipe couplings GEDIC SA 9 July 1975 [12 July 1974] 28903/75 Heading F2G A female coupling A comprises a locking member 8 movable transversely of the bore 3a, 7a and having a keyhole-shaped opening 8b, 8c therethrough in the direction of the bore, a leaf spring 9 urging the locking member 8 such that the narrow part 8c of the opening lies within the bore 3a, 7a, said narrow part 8c for ease of connection having funnel-shaped opposed side surfaces 8d that converge both in the direction of the bore 3a, 7a when moving away from the mouth of the coupling A, and transversely to the bore in the direction of movement of the locking member 8, in a direction away from the wider part 8b of the opening. The locking member 8 projects through an opening 1a in the body 1 of the coupling A for external manipulation, and is retained between a screw-threaded member 3 and a synthetic plastics ring 6, part 6b of the ring fitting into a recess 8a of the locking member as a guide both for the locking member and also for the end 10a of the male coupling B. The male coupling B has one frusto-conical surface 10c for displacing the locking member 8 on engagement and another 10d for contacting similar frusto-conical centring facets 8e of the locking member on complete insertion. The member 3 has a sealing ring 4 to fit the end 10a of the male coupling B. A biased shut-off valve 11 may be provided which is opened by the end 10a of the male coupling B. The male coupling B may have a plane surface perpendicular to the axis of the coupling in place of the surface 10d, the female coupling A having corresponding surfaces to the facets 8e. A sealing ring 4 is provided to engage the end 10a of the male coupling B. |
