<p>1434175 Pad dyeing fabrics TEIJIN Ltd and HIRANO KINZOKU CO Ltd 19 June 1974 [30 April 1974] 27212/74 Heading D1L Fabric 1, particularly knitted fabric, in open width form, is dyed by passage through padder 2, dryer 3 and heat setter 4, wherein (a) the padder comprises one or more pairs of rollers 10, 11 forming a nip through which the fabric 1 passes whilst being squeezed, at least one of the rollers 10 being partially immersed in a dye bath to such a level that the nip is above the liquid level, and (b) the fabric is conveyed vertically from the padded 2 to the dryer 3, comprising a pair of heat sources 43, by a pair of spaced apart endless conveyors 18 having pins along the length thereof which engage the edge of the fabric and hold it in a tensionless condition, the fabric being forced onto the pins by a pair of rotating brushes 23. The fabric may be stretched, prior to dyeing, by a roller 12, Fig. 3 (not shown), having helical projections 12a extending outwards from the centre. The endless conveyor 18 may be in the form of chains guided by pairs of vertical or horizontal members 24, 25 or. 26. The lower. part 24a of the guides 24 may be. hinged at 28 so that variable width fabrics may be accommodated.. The width is detected by detectors 33, above padder 2, which actuates a drive to a spindle 32 threaded to the vertical guides 24a for moving the guides inwardly or outwardly.</p> |
