1421518 Cereal preparation QUAKER OATS CO 31 Jan 1974 [9 July 1973] 04630/74 Heading A2B A cereal preparation comprises a coated base, the base comprising (all parts by weight) 30 to 50 parts cereal flakes, 5 to 8 parts coconut, 0 to 10 parts milk solids, and 5 to 9 parts edible nuts, the coating comprising 12 to 24 parts brown sugar, 5 to 15 parts pure non-hydrogenated vegetable oil, and ¢ to 3 parts sugar solution, the preparation having a density of from 0.15 to 0.35 ounces per cubic inch and a moisture content of from 1.0 to 3.5 per cent by weight. The cereal flakes may be of oats, wheat or barley or mixtures thereof. The preferred edible nuts are almonds but other nuts such as peanuts and pecans may be used. Vegetable oils specified include coconut oil, palm oil, sesame oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil and soybean oil. The sugar solution may be saturated and may be replaced by honey, molasses, and maple syrup. Dehydrated fruit e.g. raisins, dates, may also be incorporated in the product. |
