<p>The azo compound obtained by coupling diazotised 2-bromo-4-nitro-6-chloroaniline with N,N-di( beta -methoxycarbonylethyl)-aniline is heated a) in water or b) in an organic liquid or c) in a mixture of water and an organic liquid. As a result, 2-bromo-4-nitro-6-chloro-4'-[N,N-di( beta -methoxycarbonyl- ethyl)amino]-azobenzene having a novel crystal structure is obtained. This is characterised by an X-ray diffraction diagram which contains 1) 4 strong lines at lattice plane distances of 7.4 ANGSTROM , 4.44 ANGSTROM , 3.70 ANGSTROM and 3.58 ANGSTROM and 2) 5 lines of medium intensity at lattice plane distances of 4.00 ANGSTROM , 3.77 ANGSTROM , 3.48 ANGSTROM , 3.16 ANGSTROM and 3.08 ANGSTROM . This crystal structure has a very high storage stability when stored in the form of a liquid aqueous dispersion. Such a dispersion is suitable for dyeing or printing textiles made of aromatic polyesters.</p> |
