1516255 Treating aqueous waste to remove heavy metal sulphides BAYER AG 19 Aug 1976 [20 Aug 1975] 34603/76 Heading C1C Heavy metal sulphides are removed from industrial waste effluent containing from 5 to 10,000 ppm of heavy metal sulphides and having a pH of less than 2 and having a temperature of from 60 to 120‹C, by adding firstly an anionic polymer and secondly a cationic polymer to the effluent to agglomerate the heavy metal sulphides into stable, coarse flocs, and removing the flocs by filtration. The anionic and cationic polymers are preferably homopolymers and copolymers of derivatives of acrylic and methacrylic acid containing tertiary or quaternary amino groups, copolymers of acrylamide and dimethylamino-ethylmethacrylate, and vinyl polymers having carboxyl and/or sulphonic acid groups. Specified heavy metals are mercury, copper and molybdenum.
|
