<p>Rubber compounds are readily bonded to bright steel or bright alloy steel reinforcing elements, particularly tire cords, using a dip system consisting essentially of an alkaline aqueous dispersion containing a mixture of a rubbery vinyl pyridine copolymer and a heat reactable 2,6-bis(2,4-hydroxy phenylmethyl)-4-chlorophenol composition. Improved adhesion between the wire and the rubber is obtained with this dip system.</p> |
