<p>A leadscrew and a coacting nut are provided with shallow helical grooves forming a track for a set of balls whose radius exceeds the combined depth of the grooves. The groove bottoms are of arcuate cross-section, with a radius of curvature slightly exceeding the ball radius, and are machined in a hardened zone of the leadscrew and the nut, respectively.</p> |
