A pedal or battery driven tricycle comprises a first frame part 11 and a second frame part 12 hinged together to pivot about an axis X-X, see also Fig. 5 (not shown). The pivoting movement between the frames may be restricted by springs 18, Fig. 2, or by springs (37), Fig. 7 (not shown), and a locking device, comprising a plate on the first frame part which must be manually pivoted by the rider to engage a rod in one of a rack of teeth attached to a battery tray on the second frame part, Fig. 8 (not shown), so provided to hold the frame parts against pivoting when the cycle is stationary. In Fig. 6, a foot brake 43 may be operated to pull on a cross member 47b to rock links 45 and rods 44 and apply hub brakes 46. Switches connected to an electric drive motor may. be operated by a control lever 17, or by a twist grip (26e), Fig. 4 (not shown).
