1450373 Rotary distributors TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 6 Jan 1975 [20 April 1974] 406/75 Heading H1N In a rotary spark jump distributor for an internal combustion engine an arrangement for radio interference suppression comprises a dielectric member 12 Fig. 4-C of mica or ceramics arranged adjacent the periphery of the rotary electrode 11 and/or on the fixed electrodes 2 to provide a spark gap g2 which is shorter than the normal spark gap gl. The arrangement is stated to-provide an initial spark at the gap g2 which passes to the main gap gl and results in a spark discharge with a long pulse width and consequential reduced voltage. In modifications metal auxiliary electrodes 13 may be attached to the dielectric member as by adhesives and may be attached on the face (as shown) or on the outer periphery of the dielectric member (Fig. 5c not shown). In another modification the electrode 11 Fig. 8a may have a number of separate dielectric members 12 arranged on its periphery and each carrying a metallic auxiliary electrode 13. In a further modification a layer 20 Fig. 11b of electrically highly resistive material is deposited on the rotary electrode 11 or terminals 2.
