[Also in Division F2] A method of making a polyurethane laminate, comprises applying a softening agent for polyurethane to a surface of a plastic sub-structure, and bonding a layer of polyurethane to said sub-structure. The specified plastic is a polyamide which may be in the form of a braid. The softening agent for the polyurethane may be a solvent or swelling agent, specified softening agents being vinyl pyrrolidone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethyl formamide, dimethylacetamide, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl pyrrolidone, pyrrolidone, butyrolactone, butane diol and ethylene glycol dimethyl ether. In preferred embodiments, the surface of the polyamide may be heated or treated with a softening agent for the polyamide e.g. resorcinal. Fig. 1 shows a hose comprising a core 2 preferably of polyamide, a polyamide braid 3 and having a cover 1 of polyurethane applied by the process of the invention.</p> |
