In an electric motor, the rotor is supported at each end by a bearing lodged in an end shield 1, 4, 7 or 10 (Figs. 1 to 4, respectively, not shown), which is attached to a cylindrichousing or stator 3, 5, 9 or 12 by a layer 2, 6, 8 or 11 of a porous substance, e.g. a foam plastics material, felt or cord, impregnated with a thermosetting plastics material, e.g. an epoxide-resin adhesive containing a hardener and a filler such as talcum, the arrangement being such that the rotor can be aligned with the stator before the thermosetting plastics material is rendered hard by, e.g. application of heat. |
