The cutting machine has a driven rotating disc blade and an electric drive motor. There is a switch in the power circuit and danger of injury esp. to small children, is eliminated. A mechanical on/off gate (30,34,35) for the switch (43) prevents the closing of the switch contact. The switch only maintains contact so long as its force exceeds a certain value. The switch mechanism can be fixed to the adjuster for cutting blade power. This adjuster is gear shaped and the gate is a projection locating in the gear teeth. The gate can only be withdrawn by a special key.
