A brick laying machine which can build brick panels course-by-course, one brick at a time, is supported on a carriage 26, which is driven along rails 20 by an electric motor 40, and has a brick chute 142 at the rear, whence bricks are passed to a brick-laying mechanism at the front via a conveyor 144. The said mechanism includes a plunger 234, a horizontal tamping bar 326, leading and trailing mortar hoppers 264 and 306 and means for correctly locating the brick, and is supported from a frame 70 which also supports the conveyor 144, at least in part. The frame 70 is moved up and down manually and carries apparatus whereby the plunger, the tamping bar, stirrers 276 and 312 in the mortar hoppers, and a plunger 324 in the trailing hopper are driven by the electric motor 40. Means are provided for locating the bricks at the right height and to provide a flat front or rear face to the brick panel.</p> |
