Electromagnetic plate clutch with energising coil - has armature disc made of two parts separated by diamagnetic or paramagnetic material

The electromagnetic plate clutch is for low power transmission but at rapid switching sequences. It has a magnetic body which is magnetised by an energising coil and an armature disc whose magnetic circuit is broken by an air gap running concentrically to the rotational axis. The armature disc (8) is made of two parts (9, 10) separated by a gap which is filled by a diamagnetic or paramagnetic material which couples the parts together. The construction is manufactured by galvanic or vapour deposition of the material on the facing surfaces of the parts which are then fitted together and coupled either by a press fit or by the use of a diamagnetic or paramagnetic solder.
