System for separating glass bottles from a refuse by which after removing metal parts by a magnetic separator and after sieving through fine particles, the residue of the refuse is fed in a rotating drum. The inner wall of the rotating drum is provided with carriers fitting the cross section of the bottles. The bottles are moved by the carriers in upwards direction and are separated from other parts of the refuse by discharging equipment which also removes the bottles from the drum.
