The radiator group of a phase controlled antenna system for scanning the upper dome consists of individual radiators, fed via electronically controlled phase shifters. The radiators irradiate a reflector (2) which has the form of a rotation symmetrical convex surface. Its imagined rotation axis is vertical and extends through the centre of the radiator group (1), mounted above the reflector. Preferably the radiator group lies also in a rotation symmetrical surface whose imagined rotation axis is identical with that of the reflector. The latter surface may be in the form of a rotational hyperboloid. The radiator group typically generates a converging beam so that the rays reflected from the reflector are focused in a distant field.
|
