The coalface conveyor drive anchorage carries the drive or return end of the conveyor installation by a floor plate which adjusts along the roadway supports and is held to the roadway wall on the rib side by tensioner cylinders. This is connected if need be by additional cylinders to the drive head. The baseplate is led through below or over the conveyor and thus under the skids or rails fitted to the roadway support legs on the side furthest from the face. This ensures firm standing of the supports and overcomes difficulties imposed by alterations in the run of the roadway floor.
