Combined cooling system for two stroke engine - has air cooling ribs and internal cooling ribs for heat dissipation

A two stroke engine for a motor cycle uses combined liquid and air cooling. The cooling liquid is air cooled and recirculated. The cylinder and its head are uniformly and intensively cooled with a small quantity of liquid. Up to on third of the heat is dissipated by air cooling ribs (5) of the cylinder (3). The remaining heat is dissipated by the liquid coolant which reaches the cooling system (10) at the upper part of the cylinder head. The heat is transferred to the very large ribs (13) of the top cooler (10) and hence transmitted to the air. The liquid cooling chamber in the cylinder head has also a number of inwards projecting cooling ribs.
