<p>Anthraquinone dyes, esp. for dyeing polyester fibres or their mixts. have the formula: (where X and Y are each H, halogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy, or hydroxyalkyl and Y can be opt. substd. aryl when X is H). Prepn. effected by reacting (I) 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone-2,3-dicarboxylimide with (2) 1 mole of an arylsulphonic ester of formula: (where Z is H, lower alkyl or halogen). The ester is prepd. by reacting phenoxyethanol, or one of its derivs. with an arylsulphonyl chloride. The prods. dye polyester fibres in bright blue shades having an excellent fastness, esp. to light and sublimation. The prod. are easily applied by normal methods.</p> |
