<p>The mechanism takes and processes samples from a stream of material in bulk, having a sampler working to and fro cross the stream and supplying a transporter delivering to the processing unit. The transporter (5) is reversible, so as both to deliver material to the processing unit (6) and back into the stream (2) again. The sampler can be a narrow funnel moving to and fro underneath the inlet (1a) for the material, coupled via a rotary joint (9) to the transporter, and slewing to and fro on a vertical axis (3). Slewing movement of the funnel can be synchronised with the direction of movement of the transporter, so that the sample is always taken from the desired cross-section of the material stream.</p> |
