<p>Equipment forms a protective casing for an installed column-shaped metal building component against corrosion by water, air, or a combination of both. It comprises a rectangular flexible water-and air-tight plastic cladding sheet whose length is at least equal to that of the component to be protected, and which is wound round the latter (M) so that the ends overlap. A pair of vertical bars (46,48) are fixed to the sheet edges to form water-and air-tight joints with them, and are used to hold the sheet against the component. Top and bottom sealing strips are fitted between sheet and component, and are of compressible foam material, and the bars end below the top and above the bottom strips (54,56). Top and bottom wrapping strips pass round top and bottom of sheet and bars to form water-and airtight joints and hold them firmly in place, preventing any penetration of air or water inside.</p> |
