<p>The attachment is fitted to a cultivator (6) and harvests standing tobacco plants. A fairing is fixed to its chassis and has a slot which guides the stems into the cutting area. This slot has a spring loaded belt (17, to 23) which is self adjusting for different stem thicknesses. A belt driven saw (3, 8) mounted at an angle, first cuts a hanging notch in the stem. Another belt driven saw (2), mounted horizontally, then severs the stem. The plant falls onto a belt (15) which moves it to the side and deposits it in a tray and on a plastic sheet, used for forming a bundle.</p> |
