Aluminium structural sections may be assembled by means of this sliding bolt, which essentially clamps one section (E1) to the other (E2) as a grub screw (23) is tightened. The bolt (15) slides in a housing (10) fixed to, or part of one section and is hollowed, so that it may contain two balls (19, 20). The balls are retained between the end flange (18) of the bolt and a similar flange (13) of a U section element (22) also in the housing. The other flange (14) of this element extends beyond the end flange of the bolt, so that a spring (21) may be inserted between the two. This spring tends to eject the bolt from the housing to a position limited by the ball diameter. A grub screw (23) with a pointed end screw through the web of the U element and penetrates between the balls, at the same time locating the U element by passing through the housing wall. As the screw is tightened, it forces the balls apart and draws the bolt into the housing.
|
