1,136,291. Transferring containers to vehicles. ABELSON MOTORS Ltd. 5 Oct., 1966 [5 Oct., 1965; 10 Dec., 1965], Nos. 42133/65 and 52649/65. Heading B8E. A stillage 5 has a body 7 on a frame 6 provided at each corner with legs 15 pivoted by shafts 16 to move from the stowed to ground supporting positions shown. The shafts slide transversely in the frame and a tongue 28 engages a slot 29 to hold the legs in the inward stowed position. Pneumatic bellows 31 controlled manually by a valve mounted on the frame and actuatable separately at each end of the frame are mounted under the stillage platform 12 above a pivoted carriage 33 so that on expansion of the bellows a roller 35 engages the vehicle platform 3 to raise the frame and container relative thereto to allow the legs to be moved to the ground engaging position. A spring 45 acts to restore the carriage on deflation of the bellows. The bellows are mounted symmetrically of the longitudinal centre line at either end of the frame. The frame instead of being attached to the container as shown may be a separate unit inserted between the vehicle platform and container or may be part of the vehicle. |
