The device for equalisation of forces is for use with awnings or similar sunblinds, with a canvas which has its top end fixed to a rotatable spindle for winding it up, and its bottom end fixed to a loading rod braced by hinged stretcher arms. Unrolling and rolling are by motor drive or manually operated. A spring (15) stores energy when the canvas (1) is unrolled, and released again during the rolling-up process. This reduces the force needed for rolling up and overcomes resistance emanating from the stretcher arms (4), or other tension devices. The energy storage and release device may be in the form of one or more torsion springs, tightened during unrolling and relaxed during rolling-up.
