The combined shelving and cupboard unit has a checker-board elevation with closed (4A) and open (4) faced pigeonholes occupying alternate squares. A single vertically sliding leaf (6) forms the elevation fascia, and slides upwards to simultaneously open all the cupboard or concealed storage cells (4A). The open cells (4) which may house ornaments etc. are all closed as the storage cells are opened. The sliding fascia may run on vertical end posts (1) and include spring catches defining the two limits of leaf travel.
