The climbing irons are used for mounting metal and concrete poles, one set being strapped to each foot. Grip is provided by clamping the pole between fixed (1) and moving (12) jaws; friction pads (17, 18, 21) are fitted. The fixed jaw is U-shaped, one side (3) being extended as a pivot housing (4) for the foot pedal spindle (5). A lug (14) on this pedal (6, 7) has an adjustable linkage (15, 16) onto an arm (13) forming the end of the moving jaw (12). This pivots (9) on the fixed jaw when weight is placed on the pedal and clamps it against the pole. Several pivot holes (22) permit adjustment for different sized holes.
|
