摘要 <p>The contrast improvement method for temperature dependent imaging equipment compares each point of the scanned image with its surroundings to provide a weighted signal which is subtracted from the image element signal. Alternatively, the image signal is divided by the weighted ambient signal. The resulting signal is used to intensity-modulate the display. The method is suitable for single-detector units or for equipment using detector arrays. The target scene is scanned by mirrors (sp1-2) and the radiation is focussed via an object lens (o) onto twin detectors. The detector outputs are fed to a differential amplifier. The amplifier output signal is used to intensity-modulate the electron beam of the monitor. The monitor scan is synchronised with the mirror movement.</p>
