The duelling stick game tests the dexterity of the two components, each stick having a loose and a fixed hook. The object is to pull the loose hook off the opponent's stick, using one's own fixed one. The loose hook can have a plunger fitting inside the tubular stick, so that a vacuum is created, followed by a plopping noise, when it is pulled out. The design can be such that the loose hook can only be pulled free and not pushed.
