A ball-joint has bearing portions 14 and 36 the latter being a load-carrying bearing arid' being made of a synthetic plastics resin having a low coefficient of friction and a high resistance to cold flow e.g. nylon, acetal or polyphenylene oxide, and the other portion 14 being a wear take-up bearing and being made of an olefin resin having a low coefficient of friction and high resiliency e.g. high density ethylene copolymers and propylene copolymers. The wear take-up portion 14 is maintained in a state of compression by a closure plate 20 so that it can expand to take-up any wear created on the bearing surfaces. Moisture and dirt are excluded from the bearing surfaces by means of a web 31 and either a lip 37 or a flexible seal 24, fig. 1 (not shown). |
