<p>Axial thrust and reaction, on ball workpieces between a grinder's fixed and rotating plates, are internally contained. The machine frame bears mainly the machine weight. A suspended fixed plate is axially withdrawable, for plates' changing access. A double machine has back-to-back rotating plates between outer fixed plates. A gear toothed (116) driven wheel (100), in frame (106) bearings (104), carries the rotating surfacing plate (102). The fixed surfacing (110) and carrier (108) plates hang from a tracked (112) runner. An axial cylinder (122) and ram (126) apply thrust at a thrust bearing (120) and rod (128) mounted detachable plate (130).</p> |
