Pneumatic fire escape installation - uses fire resistant tube with tight fitting plunger sliding down against air cusion underneath

The installation consists of a tube located either inside or outside of the building in a convenient location. The tube has a diameter of about 60 cm and is made of a fire resisting material. At the top end an opening is provided for the entry from the top level of the building and the bottom has an air tight air lock with two doors. Inside the tube an airtight slidable plunger is operating. The person steps onto the plunger platform from the top level and the plunger then slides downward with a controlled speed against the resistance of the air cushion underneath.
