1,021,246. Refrigerators. ECONO-COVER CO. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 16, 1963], No. 36175/64. Heading F4H. The access opening of a refrigerated display case is provided with a cover comprising a sheet of resiliently flexible material having a pre-set curvature such that when the sheet is released from its extended position it will roll up on itself about an axis parallel with one of its edges. As shown in Fig. 4, the upper edge 35 of the cover is secured along the top edge of the front-access opening of a display cabinet and the opposite edge 39 of the cover has secured thereto a magnetized rod 42, the magnetic attraction between the rod 42 and the metallic upper edge 27 of the front wall of the cabinet being sufficient to retain the cover in its extended position. When the edge 39 is released the cover rolls up on itself to assume the position shown in Fig. 3. The cover is formed of metal or plastics material and is preferably transparent with a plurality of small diameter, widely spaced apertures therethrough. In one modification (Fig. 8, not shown) the rod 42 is omitted and the cover retained in its extended position by hooking its free end under a projection on the front wall of the cabinet. The cover may be used in a cabinet having a top access opening (Fig. 7, not shown). |
